One Less Gun: Two Under Arrest, Firearm, Drugs Recovered in Dorchester After Incident Reported in Braintree

At about 7:00 PM on Wednesday March 16, 2016, officers assigned to the Boston Police Special Investigations Unit arrested two suspects after recovering a loaded gun and drugs from inside a motor vehicle in Dorchester.  Earlier in the evening, a description of a motor vehicle was given out relative to an incident in Braintree involving a firearm.  Investigators later located the car in the rear of 9 Harvard Street with two occupants inside.  After additional units assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrived, officers safely removed the operator, Jovanny Salcedo, 27, of Taunton and the passenger, Miguel Arias, 19, of Dorchester to perform a pat frisk of the vehicle.  Both suspects were placed in custody without incident after officers recovered a loaded Ruger .45 caliber handgun which had previously been reported stolen and 19.1 grams of heroin from inside the car.  The suspects will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property and Trafficking Class A Drugs.
