At about 4:45 PM on Monday March 21, 2016, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a report of two male suspects armed with firearms in the area of 12 Harlow Street in Dorchester. Officers arrived on scene and observed Christian Teixeira, 30, of Mattapan, who matched one of the given descriptions standing in front of the address. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect fled inside the house and ran up the stairs, pushing an elderly woman out of the way in the process as officers gave chase. The suspect then entered an apartment on the second floor and slammed the door behind him. Officers gained entry and were able to place the suspect in custody after a brief struggle. Officers then recovered a loaded .22 caliber Ruger Mark 2 Target which the suspect had discarded right before being placed in custody.
As this was transpiring, additional responding units observed the second described suspect, Kasim Kahrim, 33, of Dorchester, walking near 45 Harlow Street. The suspect fled into a driveway as the officers approached. As the officers closed in, they observed the suspect duck down behind a parked car and then heard a loud sound of metal striking metal. The suspect then got back up and was stopped by the officers. Officers quickly recovered a loaded .357 Smith & Wesson revolver which had been set inside the rear rim of the car and then placed the suspect in custody without incident. It was later learned that the suspect had discharged the firearm prior to the arrival of officers. There were no reported injuries.
Both suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court. Teixeira will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Assault and Battery (Victim Over 65 Years of Age) and Breaking and Entering of a Dwelling (Daytime). Kahrim will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.
