Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Quick Response Leads to Arrest After Bank Robbery in South Boston

At about 8:55 AM on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a bank robbery at the Citizen’s Bank located at 441 West Broadway. A male suspect, later identified as John Dinsmore, 52, of South Boston, entered the bank, approached a teller and stated, “Give me one hundreds and fifties, no dye pack, I have a gun.” The suspect then quickly fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. A short time later, responding officers observed a male matching the given description getting into the back of a taxi several blocks away in the area of D Street and 7th Street. Officers stopped the cab and removed the suspect who was then positively identified by witnesses. Officers placed the suspect in custody without incident. No firearm was recovered. Officers later recovered the stolen cash which the suspect had hidden under the rear seat cushions of the cab. The suspect will be arraigned in South Boston District Court for Armed Robbery (Bank).
