Boston Police Officers Honored at Boston Police Foundation 3rd Annual Gala

The Boston Police Department would like to extend a huge thank you to the Boston Police Foundation for hosting its 3rd Annual Boston Police Foundation Gala this past Saturday evening. The BPF welcomed Emmy-winning NECN reporter Latoya Edwards as the MC and Anti-Defamation League NE Regional Director Robert Trestan as the evening’s honoree for his leadership in developing community partnerships. Also in attendance were actor Mark Wahlberg and director Peter Berg who presented this year’s Boston Police Foundation Hero Award to Police Officer John Moynihan of the Youth Violence Strike Force. Officer Moynihan was shot at point-black range last year during a motor vehicle stop.

Also earning awards were the BPD Fugitive Unit (Officers of the Year), Detective Kara Connolly (Detective of the Year), Sergeant Samil Silta (Outstanding Leadership Award) and former Communications Equipment Operator Nicole Janey (Marie Conley Civilian Award). The Boston Police Department is proud of the work that these officers—and all our officers—have done in 2015, and we thank the BPF for their recognition and support.
