While en route to the call, officers learned that the suspect (described as heavy set black male with braids, carrying a pink bag and wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and blue & white sneakers) was last seen running in the direction of the Stop & Shop on Blue Hill Avenue. While searching the area for the suspect, officers observed an individual motioning towards them while simultaneously pointing in the direction of Geneva Ave. While driving along Geneva Ave, officers observed an individual who matched the description of the suspect. As officers got closer, officers observed the suspect trying to hail a cab. Upon seeing the approaching officers, the suspect cancelled his cab reservation and took off running. After a lengthy foot chase, officers were able to catch up to and apprehend the suspect in the area of 94 Geneva Ave. While taking the suspect into custody, officers noted and observed red dye on the suspect's hands and a red dye pack inside the bag he was carrying.

Officers arrested Brandon Smith, 29, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery and Larceny Over $250.
