At about 6:50 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest for firearm-related offenses in the area of 129 Selden Street in District B-3 (Mattapan).

While on patrol in the above area due to recent firearm and street gang related incidents, officers observed three males known to them from previous encounters. The officers attempted to have a conversation with the group when one of the males quickly separated himself from the others and fled on foot. Officers followed the male and, after a brief foot chase, were able to stop him in the rear of 129 Seldon Street. Officers retraced the male’s steps and retrieved a loaded silver Ruger SP101 .38 Special with a black handle along the flight path. The firearm had been reported stolen out of South Portland, ME.

Officers arrested 28-year-old Gino Curry of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, Trespassing, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd and Subsequent Offense), and Armed Career Criminal (Level 3).
