At about 10:10 PM on Sunday, March 31, 2013, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 104 Minden Street. Upon arrival, officers observed 25-year-old Edward Villalona of Boston suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Villalona was later pronounced deceased.
Exactly three years and one day to that date, on Friday, April 1, 2016, the BPD Fugitive Unit assisted the homicide detectives in effecting the arrest of Villalona’s suspected killer, 24-year-old Yerri Perez of Dorchester.
“Perez’s arrest three years later shows that no victim is ever left behind or forgotten,” said Police Commissioner Evans. “This investigation has been particularly complex, but my detectives take each case very personally and will work with the community until every single case is solved, despite the challenges they may face during the process.”
Perez answered to the charge of Murder in Suffolk Superior Court on the date of his arrest.
