One Less Gun: Officers Recover Two Loaded Firearms From Two Known Suspects in Mattapan

At about 6:00 PM on Monday, April 25, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made two on site firearm arrests as part of an ongoing gang related investigation in Mattapan. The officers were on directed patrol when they observed Jayquan Jones, 21, of Dorchester, enter a motor vehicle in the area of 40 River Street. The officers followed the vehicle and stopped it in the area of Babson Street and Blue Hill Avenue. Officers removed Jones and immediately felt a firearm in the waist band area of his pants. The suspect was quickly placed in custody without incident and a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun was recovered. Officers then removed the operator, Taimeek Camillo, 18, of Dorchester, who informed the officers that he too had a firearm in his waist band area. Officers placed the suspect in custody without incident and recovered a loaded Makarov .380 caliber handgun. Both suspects have been arraigned in Dorchester District Court on multiple firearm and ammunition charges.
