At about 11:05 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2016, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force effected an on-site arrest of a suspect for warrants and firearm related charges in the area of 37 Woolson Street in District B-3 (Mattapan).
While on directed patrol in the above area, officers observed a male known to them. After monitoring the individual, his movements, and his reaction to police presence for a short period, officers were led to believe he may be armed. Officers approached the male and attempted to speak with him, conducting a pat frisk for their safety. The officers felt what they knew to be a firearm in the waistband of the male’s pants. Officers quickly seized a loaded black .40 caliber Glock 27 firearm with obliterated serial numbers from the male. The male could not produce a valid license to carry a firearm.
The officers subsequently arrested 29-year-old Henry Cantos Barboza of Dorchester on two outstanding warrants and additionally charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, and being an Armed Career Criminal.
