One Less Gun: Officers Locate and Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Firearm in Convenience Store Armed Robbery

At about 9:20 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 542 Washington Street at the Aney Grocery and Convenience Store.

Upon arrival, the officers spoke with the clerk who reported that two males had entered the store, displayed a firearm, and robbed him of the cash in the store’s register. The officers were informed by witnesses that the suspects had fled into a residence in the area of 10 Rosedale Street. Officers were given permission to search the residence, and during the search, officers found two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions. Officers also recovered clothing, mask, and gloves consistent with those worn by the suspects in the surveillance video at the scene of the robbery. Further search revealed a loaded black Llama Minimax .45 caliber firearm in a backpack along with personal papers bearing the name of one of the suspects.

Officers arrested 27-year-old Miguel Sanchez of Roslindale and 26-year-old Victor Santiago of Roxbury and charged them with Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
