ONE LESS GUN: BPD Officers Confront Armed Felon Early This Morning in Dorchester

In ongoing efforts to keep our city safe, BPD officers confronted an armed felon early this morning in Dorchester. The facts and circumstances of the incident are as follows: At about 12:21am, on Saturday, May 21, 2016, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) received information relative to an individual (described as a black male wearing a black hat and black hoodie) believed to be in possession of a firearm in the area of 955 Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located the individual in question and promptly approached him to find out if he was in possession of a weapon. When officers attempted to pat frisk the suspect, the suspect immediately tensed up and a physical altercation ensued. After a lengthy struggle, officers were able subdue the suspect and locate a loaded firearm in the suspect’s athletic shorts. The gun (described as a Hi-Point .45 ACP semi-automatic firearm) can be seen in the photo. Officers arrested O’Shea Kerr, 21, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way and Resisting Arrest.
