Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Make Quick Arrest After Bank Robbery in the South End

At about 11:38 AM on Saturday May 21, 2016, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) made an arrest after a bank robbery at 1320 Washington Street.  Officers responded to the Commerce Bank where a male suspect, later identified as Jeremy Woodley, 35, of Boston, had passed a note indicating he was armed with a firearm.  The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash and was seen getting into the back seat of a motor vehicle which then drove off.  Officers located the car a few blocks away and were able to safely stop it and remove the suspect, placing him in custody without incident.  As the officers were performing a pat frisk, they felt a bulge in the suspect’s pocket, at which point the suspect informed them “I’m not carrying any weapons, that’s just the money from the bank.”  The suspect also added, “The people in the car have nothing to do with this.”  The driver of the car and a passenger were interviewed by detectives and released when it was determined they had no knowledge of the suspect’s actions.  The suspect will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for Armed Bank Robbery.
