Great Work Recognized: Four Boston Police Officers Receive MAWLE Awards

On Thursday, May 5, 2016, four women from the Boston Police Department were honored at this year’s Spirit of MAWLE Awards in Yarmouth, MA. Each year, the Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement presents awards to the female officers across the state that exhibit exemplary work in their field. This year, MAWLE honored Officer Janet Lewis with the Courage Award for her heroic actions at the scene of a 2015 officer-involved shooting in which her fellow officer was shot by a suspect at point-blank range. Also receiving special recognition were Boston Police Detective Sandra Swain, as well as Officers Lindsey Onishuck and Cynthia Brewington. The actions of these officers have been exemplary throughout their careers and for this recognition of their hard work, we say, “Congratulations on a job well-done!”
