One Less Gun: Officers Recover Loaded Gun After Chasing Juvenile Suspect in Dorchester

At about 2:40 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 10 Claymont Terrace in Dorchester.  Officers were in the area as part of an active and ongoing investigation when they observed two individuals who were known to them standing with a 17 year old juvenile male from Dorchester.  Officers continued to observe the three males and approached to speak with them when their behavior became suspicious.  Upon seeing the officers walking towards them, the juvenile male immediately fled on foot while keeping his right hand secured against his front pants pocket, leading officers to believe he may be armed with a weapon.  Officers gave chase, following the suspect through several backyards before finally stopping him and placing him in custody.  Officers recovered a loaded Raven Arms Model P-25 .25 caliber firearm which the suspect had discarded during the foot chase.  The suspect will appear in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit:  Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
