At about 7:20 PM on Thursday, June 16, 2016, members of the District B-2 (Roxbury) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit were conducting an investigation in the area of Harold and Howland Streets when their attention was drawn to the two occupants of a motor vehicle who appeared to be involved in the sale/purchase of illegal narcotics. Further surveillance led officers to conduct a stop of the vehicle for investigative purposes. During the stop, an officer observed a bulge in the pants of the passenger, and after a pat frisk, the officer recovered a loaded Glock 20 Generation 4 semi-automatic firearm in the waistband of the passenger. Also found in the pocket of the passenger was a plastic bag containing one additional loaded magazine and several lose rounds of ammunition.
The passenger, 34-year-old Martel Horton of Boston, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Firearm/Feeding Device. The operator was identified and released.
