One Less Gun: Officers Recover Loaded Firearm from Juvenile Suspect After Shots Fired in Dorchester

At about 11:47 PM on Tuesday May 31, 2016, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 131 Devon Street in Dorchester.  Officers had responded to this very same address two nights earlier after a person was shot and killed.  The officers quickly stopped their vehicle when they heard the sound of gunfire and began to search the area for potential suspects or victims.  Additional units from District B-2 and C-11 (Dorchester) quickly arrived on scene and stopped a 16 year old juvenile from Mattapan who was walking in the area while clutching at the waistband of his pants.  Officers stopped the suspect and performed a pat frisk which revealed the presence of a loaded Schmidt Ostheim-Rohen .22 caliber revolver.  The suspect was placed in custody after a brief struggle and has since been arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
