One Less Gun: Illegal Firearm Recovered from Two Suspects in Downtown Neighborhood

At approximately 4:30 PM on Thursday, June 2, 2016, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were on patrol in the area of 145 Tremont Street due to complaints regarding illegal drug use and sales. The officers’ attention was immediately drawn to two males, one of whom was acting suspiciously and making movements similar to those made by a person who may be armed with a firearm. Officers approached the males to conduct an inquiry. During the inquiry, one of the males, who identified himself as 22-year-old Remi Jones of Cambridge, walked away leaving his ID with the officers.

Approximately an hour and a half later, officers again observed the same individuals in the area. Officers conducted a pat frisk, returned Jones’ ID to him, and he was advised to leave the area.

At about 9:45 PM the officers observed Jones in the same area for a third time, accompanied this time by two different males. Officers approached the three males, and during this encounter, officers recovered a loaded black Springfield Armory XPS 9mm firearm from between the legs of 19-year-old Jared John Disciullo of Quincy.

Discioullo was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm. After statements were made by Jones indicating that he had also been in possession of the firearm, Jones was arrested and charged with the above offenses.
