One Less Gun: Officers Arrest 15-Year-Old Juvenile in Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Roxbury

At about 7:45 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force effected a firearm related arrest in the area of 590 Dudley Street in District B-2 (Roxbury).

While on patrol, officers were approached by a concerned citizen who reported a teenaged male on a bike had threatened two females by displaying and racking a round in a firearm. The male then fled on the bike on Dudley Street toward Uphams Corner. Officers soon located the male who continued to flee on the bicycle, leading the officers on a lengthy pursuit, clutching his right waistband as though he were securing a firearm. Officers were finally able to apprehend the male while attempting to scale a fence. Officers recovered a loaded silver Raven .25 caliber firearm with clear plastic tape around the handle from the suspect’s right pants pocket. As officers recovered the suspect’s bicycle they were approached by a victim who reported the bike had been stolen from the victim about a half an hour earlier.

Officers arrested the 15-year-old juvenile from Lynn and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property (Bicycle), and Resisting Arrest. Officers also discovered that the suspect was wanted on three active outstanding warrants.
