One Less Gun: Detail Officer Recovers Loaded Firearm from Suspect After Scooter Crash in Dorchester

At about 8:15 PM on Wednesday June 8, 2016, an officer performing a paid detail in District C-11 (Dorchester) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 269 Washington Street.  The officer responded to the scene of a scooter crash where he observed Marcus Henderson, 28, of Mattapan, suffering from minor facial lacerations.  Officers learned that Henderson had been operating the scooter when he lost control and crashed.  When the officers picked up an article of clothing which the suspect had placed on the ground, they recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P 9 Shield handgun from underneath it.  The suspect was then placed in custody without incident and transported to an area hospital for treatment prior to being processed and booked.  The suspect will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
