Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest 14-Year-Old Suspect after Shooting in Mattapan

 

At about 5:30 PM on Monday, July 11, 2016, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 563 Norfolk Street.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 23-year-old female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. As officers canvassed the area for suspects they were pointed in the direction of Evelyn Street, then further directed through several backyards on Clarkwood Street. Officers were finally shown an open door in a garage near 39 Clarkwood Street, then directed into an open basement at that location. There they located three suspects, one of whom was positively identified as the suspect who possessed and discharged the firearm near 563 Norfolk Street. The area was frozen pending further investigation.

Officers arrested the 14-year-old juvenile from Mattapan and charged him with Delinquent to wit; Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, as well as several firearm charges.
