One Less Gun: Officers Respond to Motor Vehicle Accident in South Boston - Arrest Driver and Passenger After Locating and Recovering Discarded Firearm

At about 9:30 PM Wednesday July 13, 2016, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) arrested two suspects on firearms charges after responding to a motor vehicle accident in the area of E Street and West 2nd Street in South Boston.  On arrival, officers observed the driver, Darius Boodoosingh, 18, of Roslindale and the passenger, Sterling Brown 23, of Hyde Park, being treated for minor injuries by members of the Boston Fire Department and Boston EMS. The car had been traveling down E Street when the operator lost control and struck a light pole.  While on scene, the officers learned that after the crash occurred, one of the men had dumped a backpack into a nearby dumpster prior to the arrival of the first responders.  The officers located a dumpster near 299 West 2nd Street and recovered a backpack which contained a loaded Smith & Wesson 38 Special revolver.  Both suspects were placed in custody without incident after receiving medical treatment.  The suspects will appear in South Boston District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
