BPD in the Community: Commissioner Evans Surprises Kids and Cops at Softball Game in West Roxbury

On Thursday, July 14, 2016, Sister Nancy from the Casserly House in Roslindale brought several of her students to Billings Field in West Roxbury to take on members of the Boston Police Department in an exciting game of softball. While she was expecting to see officers assigned to District E-5 (West Roxbury) and members of the command staff, she was surprised when Commissioner Evans showed up, took off his suit coat and walked on the field for an at bat. The commissioner got a single and scored a run after, not surprisingly, running the bases very well. There were plenty of hits, great plays and big smiles from all the players, young and old alike. Thanks to our officers for coming out to play ball and a big thank you to Sister Nancy and her “Casserly Kids” for a great game and a great day.
