BPD in the News: First Muslim Boston Police Captain Working to Educate People about his Religion and Unite Community

A huge thank you to Karen Anderson from WCVB for highlighting the great work done by Boston Police District B-3 (Mattapan) Captain Haseeb Hosein, who was promoted from lieutenant to captain two years ago by BPD Commissioner William Evans. Captain Hosein is the first Muslim police captain in Boston and, in addition to running one of the busiest districts in the city, focuses largely on fostering relationships between the Muslim community and police. “We’re here for [the Muslim community],” said Captain Hosein. “There should be no fear of approaching the police.”
