One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Two Suspects in for Firearm Related Charges in Two Separate Incidents in Roxbury on Wednesday

INCIDENT #1: At about 12:18 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Warren Street. While in the area, officers observed a male fitting the description of the suspect. As officers approached, the male attempted to flee the area, but officers were able to quickly detain him. A pat frisk of the suspect and the backpack he was carrying revealed a loaded Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf pistol and several drugs packaged for sale. Officers arrested the 25-year-old male from Roxbury and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs, and Possession of Class A Drugs. The suspect was additionally charged with Second and Subsequent Offenses on the firearm charges.

INCIDENT #2: At about 12:45 AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) were on directed patrol in the area of the Orchard Park Housing Development due to recent firearm recoveries and related incidents. Officers observed a group of males known to officers trespassing on the basketball courts after dark. As officers approached to speak with the males, they began displaying evasive behavior. Due to this behavior and the fact that they were trespassing, officers conducted a pat frisk of the group. As a result, officers recovered a loaded Jimenez Arms J.A. Nine 9mm firearm from a 20-year-old male from Roxbury. Officers arrested the male and charged him with Trespassing, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
