At about 5:20 PM on Saturday, July 23, 2016, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress in the area of 176 Sydney Street.
Upon arrival, officers were advised that two males approached the victim from behind as he entered his parked vehicle, pulled a knife, and demanded his cell phone and wallet. They also ordered the victim to empty his glove box and center console. Officers were provided a description of the suspects, which they broadcast over the police radio. Officers in the area observed two males fitting the suspects’ descriptions near Crescent Avenue. As officers approached, the males took off running in opposite directions. Responding officers gave chase and, after a brief pursuit and assistance from bystanders in tracking the suspects, were soon able to apprehend both males. The males were positively identified as the robbery suspects.
Officers arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male and a 16-year-old juvenile male, both from Dorchester. Both were charged with Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery and Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle. The victim’s stolen property was found in the pocket of the 15-year-old, therefore, he was additionally charged with Delinquent to wit; Receiving/Concealing Stolen Property.
