MEDIA AVAILABILTY/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY: Commissioner to Lay Wreath at Fallen Officer's Memorial on 100th Anniversary of His Death

WHO:            Boston Police Commissioner William Evans, District C-6 (South Boston) police officers, family and friends of late Police Officer Patrick J. Carr.

WHAT:          Boston Police Commissioner, BPD officers, and the family of late Police Officer Patrick Carr will lay a wreath at Patrolman Carr’s hero sign on the 100th anniversary of his death in the line of duty. One hundred years ago on August 1, 1916, Patrolman Carr was mortally injured during a motor vehicle crash on a bridge to Castle Island in South Boston. At the time of the crash, Patrolman Carr was responding with three other officers to a call for 6-year-old boy who was injured after falling off a cannon during a family outing on the island. Officer Carr was survived by his wife and seven children. Several of Patrolman Carr’s grandchildren also went on to serve as Boston police officers. For more on Patrolman Carr’s story click here:
