ONE LESS GUN: BPD Officers Confiscate an Illegal Firearm on District D-4 in the South End: In the BPD’s ongoing efforts to protect and serve the citizens of our fine city, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested an armed suspect in the South End. About 9:20pm, on Friday, August 12, 2016, officers were on patrol in the area of the Cathedral Housing Development when they observed an individual, Jorge Vega, 19, of Boston, in violation of a trespass order specifically prohibiting his access to the Cathedral Housing Development. In light of the trespass violation, officers approached the suspect and placed him under arrest. As officers were approaching Vega, an individual walking with him, Dajan Gilmore, 20 of Everett, promptly peeled away and began walking in the opposite direction. Officers quickly caught up to Gilmore and soon ascertained he was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants out of Lynn District Court. A search of Gilmore enabled officers to recover a silver-colored firearm with a black handle (see photo). Officers charged Gilmore with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with Altered Serial Number and Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device.
