BPD Officers Arrest 14 Year Old Suspect Carrying Replica Firearm on City Hall Plaza During Dominican Festival

At about 5:53 PM on Sunday August 14, 2016, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person with a gun during a Dominican Festival celebration being held on City Hall Plaza.  Witnesses reported seeing a male suspect take a firearm out of a backpack he was carrying and then place it into the waistband area of his pants.  Officers arrived on scene and quickly located the suspect, who was later identified as a 14 year old juvenile from Dorchester.  Officers performed a pat frisk and immediately felt a firearm in the waistband of his pants.  At this time, the suspect abruptly pulled away from the officers and began to yell and swear at them.  The suspect was placed in custody after a brief struggle at which time the officers recovered what was later determined to be a loaded Luger .177 caliber BB Pistol.  As the suspect was being led away, he screamed at the officers “I got a real gun, I’m gonna (expletive) shoot all of you!”

The suspect will be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit:  Possession of a Replica Firearm, Threats and Disturbing the Peace.
