At about 12:05 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2016, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 6 Dudley Terrace in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located one adult male victim and one adult female victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male victim was pronounced deceased on scene. The female victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The male victim was later identified as Ailton Goncalves, 35, of Dorchester.
Earlier today, at about 10:45 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016, members of the BPD Fugitive Unit and Youth Violence Task Force arrested Aaron Almeida, 22, of Hyde Park, in the area of Morrissey Boulevard and Neponset Avenue in Dorchester. The suspect will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
“I’d like to thank all of my officers and detectives who have been working tirelessly on both of these cases,” said Commissioner Evans. “Their efforts over the past several months and weeks are evidence of their commitment to seeking justice for all victims, families and loved ones affected by violence. I hope these arrests bring some level of comfort to the families and loved ones of both victims."
