BPD’s Body Camera Pilot Program Begins Today

BPD’s Body Camera Pilot Program Begins Today: Today, Monday, September 12, 2016, marks the first day of the BPD’s Body Camera Pilot Program. Chief Gross (seen in the photo discussing the program with an interested community member) and seven other members of the BPD Command Staff joined the 100 officers participating in the 6-month long pilot program designed to assess the pros and cons of the body camera technology. Said Chief Gross: “Our participation in this program highlights our commitment to transparency in our ongoing efforts to further strengthen the relationship and level of trust that exists between our officers and our community members. I think the cameras are going to show folks just how difficult the job of a police officer really is while – at the same time – exposing and highlighting the widespread professionalism that exists in Boston Police Department.”
