One Less Gun: BPD Officers Stop Fleeing Suspect Armed with Firearm While Responding to Call for Person Shot in Dorchester

At about 4:30 PM on Thursday September 22, 2016, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of90 Crawford Street in Dorchester while responding to a radio call for a person shot.  The officers were on approach to 194 Humboldt Avenue where an adult male victim had sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound when they observed Michael Morris, 18, of Dorchester, running from the area clutching the waistband of his pants.  Officers followed the suspect to 90 Crawford Street where he discarded a loaded firearm prior to being placed in custody.  It was not immediately clear if the suspect had any connection to the shooting at 194 Humboldt Avenue.  The suspect has been arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
