One Less Gun: Officers Recover Loaded Firearm From Known Suspect in Dorchester

At about 6:45 PM on Thursday September 29, 2016, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 55 Downer Avenue in Dorchester.  The officers were on directed patrol in the area in response to numerous recent incidents involving gang and gun activity.  The officers observed and approached a group of known individuals and engaged them in conversation.  One of the men, Pedro Daveiga, 21, of Dorchester, refused to take his hands out of the front pocket of his sweatshirt at which time an officer performed a pat frisk and recovered a loaded 9mm KelTec PF-9 Lugar handgun.  The suspect was then placed in custody without incident and will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

This was the third day in a row that members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were able to take an illegal firearm off the streets of Boston and out of the hands of those who are driving violent crime in the communities we serve.
