Great Work Recognized: Several Officers Honored with Commissioner's Commendations After Large Drug Bust in East Boston

Last week, during a ceremony at Boston Police Headquarters, Sergeant Michael Charbonnier and Police Officers Jason Albanese, Thomas Domenico, Kevin Lockhead and Richard Slamin of District A-7 (East Boston) were each awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation for their actions in the line of duty.

On December 15, 2016, the officers responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 217 Bennington Street.  Officers Slamin and Lockhead were previously aware of possible gang activity at this address.  Officer Slamin engaged the resident of the second floor of the address, who matched the suspect’s description.  A pat frisk and protective sweep of the apartment was requested and allowed.  During the sweep, potential drug packaging materials and contraband were clearly observed which led the officers to believe this was a potentially a drug stash house.  Sergeant Charbonnier immediately informed all officers to complete the protective sweep and exit the apartment, which was now frozen pending a search warrant.

As a result, 4 large capacity firearms, 6 large capacity feeding devices, 162 rounds of ammunition, over 200 grams each of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, over 47 grams of heroin, over 100 grams of Oxycodone and $182,819 in cash were recovered.

For their efforts, they are each awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation.
