Keeping Boston Safe: Officers Arrest Drug Traffickers, Seize Hundreds of Grams of Illicit Drugs

On Monday, January 30, 2017, members of the District B-3 (Mattapan) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit executed several search warrants in the area of 651 Morton Street.

After receiving information that an individual was distributing heroin in the areas of Mattapan and Dorchester, DCU officers launched a two month long investigation and were able to identify 30-year-old Luis Pinales of Dorchester as the suspect. Officers secured search warrants for the above address and for the person of Pinales. At about 1:45 PM on the above date, officers located Pinales and executed one of the search warrants. As a result, officers seized four plastic bags of heroin, four plastic bags of cocaine, and approximately $66 in US currency. Officers arrested Pinales and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Drugs and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs.

At about 2:20 PM, officers executed the second search warrant for a residence in the area of 651 Morton Street. Upon knocking and announcing their presence, officers made entry and secured the occupants of the residence. Officers seized the following during the search warrant:

  • Approximately $11,400 USC
  • 322 grams of cocaine
  • 168 grams of heroin
  • Scales, packaging materials, cutting agents, grinders, cellphones, and personal papers

Two of the occupants, 29-year-old Luis Cuello and 18-year-old Maria Baez-Guzman, both of Mattapan, will be charged with Trafficking Heroin over 100 grams and Trafficking Cocaine over 200 grams. A third occupant, 36-year-old Shirley Morales of Mattapan, was arrested and charged with Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute, Providing a False Name at Booking, and warrants for Possession of Fraudulent Registry Documents and False License Application.
