At about 10:50 AM on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of 44 Hancock Street.
Officers on patrol were provided with a description of the suspect, and shortly after, an officer observed a male fitting that description standing with a female near 43 Hancock Street. The male suspect was holding a purse with both hands in front of him and appeared nervous as the officer approached. Given the nature of the call, the officers took the purse from the suspect and pat frisked the purse for weapons. The officers then observed a heavy object in the front pocket of the suspect’s sweatshirt. The officer pat frisked the suspect and felt what the officer knew to be a firearm inside the sweatshirt pocket. The officer seized the unloaded .32 caliber Meridian Colt revolver. The officers attempted to place the male in handcuffs, but he initially resisted. After a brief struggle, the officers were able to apprehend the male, at which time the female reported to the officers that the firearm belonged to her.
The officers were then informed that prior to their arrival the male suspect had pointed the firearm at a victim and put him in fear. Officers arrested the 19-year-old male from Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). The 14-year-old juvenile female from Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
