This commendation is for Police Officers Edward Boudreau, Edward Fleming, Steve Katikakis, Daniel O’Donnell, and Darrell Vinson from District D-4 (South End).

At about 6:30 AM on Sunday, October 8, 2017, Officers Boudreau, Fleming, Katikakas,
O’Donnell and Vinson responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress on Gloucester Street. The female residents had fled the building after being awoken by an intruder prying at their bedroom window.

The officers responded within minutes and entered the building. Officer Fleming observed a suspect flee through a third floor window and onto the roof. Officers Fleming, O’Donnell and Katikakis proceeded to the roof in search of the suspect, while Officers Vinson and Boudreau established a ground perimeter. Officer O’Donnell scaled onto a higher roof peak for better observation. Shortly, the officers located the suspect hiding several roofs over from the original location and was safely taken into custody. The suspect was identified as the male who attempted to pry in the victims' window.

Later, officers and detectives discovered that the suspect had also broken into one residence on Newbury Street and had attempted to break into another nearby residence. The suspect, who has a lengthy criminal record from several states, was also found to have recently been arrested for a breaking and entering on Newbury Street and identified for a break in another crime. The case has been referred to the Major Felony Unit of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Thanks to their immediate response, teamwork and overall plan, the suspect was quickly apprehended and identified as being responsible for a number of crimes on District D-4. For their efforts they are each awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation.
