At about 6:30 PM on Tuesday October 24, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force placed two suspects in custody after recovering a loaded firearm and drugs during a traffic stop in the area of Harrison Avenue and Zeigler Street in Roxbury. The officers were on directed patrol in the area of the Orchard Park housing development when they stopped a motor vehicle after a traffic infraction. When the officers approached the car, they immediately recognized both the driver, Shaquille Watford, 24, of Dorchester, and passenger, Kareem Woods, 24, of Dorchester, due to previous interactions. As the officers were speaking to the operator, they observed the passenger quickly place an unidentified object behind his seat. Officers then removed both parties and performed a pat frisk which led to the recovery of a loaded .32 caliber Titanic revolver from the floor of the rear passenger area of the vehicle. Officers also recovered a large plastic bag of marijuana from inside the vehicle and a bag containing eight grams of crack cocaine from the operator. Both suspects were placed in custody without incident and will face arraignment in Roxbury District Court. Kareem Woods will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Shaquille Watford will be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B and D Drugs.
