BPD Honored to be the 1st Police Department in the Country to Participate in the Shatterproof Rise Up Against Addiction Boston 5K Run/Walk: On Saturday, October 28, 2017, several members of the Boston Police Department – led by Commissioner William Evans – proudly participated in the Shatterproof Rise Up Against Addiction 5K Run/Walk which was held at Franklin Park in Boston. As the name of the race suggests, the event was held to raise awareness about the importance of ending the devastation and damage addiction causes families. Prior to the start of the event, Commissioner Evans offered words of support and encouragement to all those in attendance. Said Commissioner Evans, “I so am proud that my department is the first police department to stand together with those who are looking to end the stigma and shame associated with addiction. My officers see the painful impact of addiction during their daily patrols in our city and, let me assure you, there’s nothing we won’t do as a police department to make sure that those in need of help get the help they need. No one should ever feel alone when it comes to addiction.” For more information, please visit: www.shatterproof.org/prevention
