It's Turkey Time! Boston Police Officers Distribute Hundreds of Turkeys to People in Need

This week, in the spirit of giving and thanks, Boston police officers across the city gave away hundreds of turkeys and Thanksgiving trimmings to those in need.

For over ten years, BPD District E-5 (West Roxbury) and Roche Brothers Supermarkets have teamed up to donate turkeys to the less fortunate in and around the West Roxbury and Roslindale areas. Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force gave away 275 turkeys and 50 pies to various organizations, including the New England Veterans Shelter, parish churches, and Boston community centers. District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) Community Service Officers and student helpers from the Margarita Muñiz Academy assembled over 20 Thanksgiving dinner boxes with Thanksgiving turkeys and side dishes, and distributed them to local families in need, with special deliveries made to elderly residents. aptain Fong and his follow officers in District A-1 (Downtown) took some time out from their busy schedules to deliver turkeys to homeless veterans in downtown Boston.

We hope these small gestures will go far in making this year's Thanksgiving a bright one for everyone in Boston. To all, we wish a Happy Thanksgiving from the Boston Police Department!
