At about 2:11 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force placed two suspects in custody after a shooting in the area of Harvard and Warner Streets in Dorchester. The officers were in the area on directed patrol when they heard the sound shots being fired nearby. The officers searched the area and immediately located a 30-year-old male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds who was then transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Based on the observations of the officers, additional responding units were able to quickly apprehend two male suspects, Mackenzie Guillaume, 27, of Mattapan and Hubman Hunter, 25, of Dorchester in the area of Centre Street and Talbot Avenue. Both suspects will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.
Said Commissioner Evans, "An incident like this continues to show that my officers are out there every day in the neighborhoods we serve. They were in the right place at the right time and responded immediately to this brazen act of violence in broad daylight. I can't thank them enough for their bravery and their professionalism. I’m grateful that no one else was hurt and that those responsible are in custody.”
