One Less Gun: Officers Recover Stolen Firearm, Arrest Female Suspect

At about 1:20 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 39 Roxbury Street.

While on patrol, officers observed what appeared to be a hand-to-hand street level drug transaction between a male and a female. Officers were able to stop the female, who during the interaction appeared nervous and continuously fidgeted with her bra and placed her hands in her pockets despite the officers’ orders not to do so. Believing the female may be armed, the officers requested a female officer to conduct a frisk. During the frisk, the officer recovered a loaded black semi-automatic Springfield Armory 9mm handgun and large capacity magazine from the female suspect’s bra. Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen out of Alabama. The officers arrested 23-year-old Jamyleah Jones of Dorchester and charged her with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Receiving Stolen Property.

The male involved in the original incident was located, identified, and released.
