One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest Suspect After Recovering Loaded Firearm, Drugs and Cash During Traffic Stop in Roxbury


At about 5:20 PM on Monday, December 11, 2017, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an onsite firearm and drug related arrest after performing a traffic stop in the area of 1891 Columbus Avenue in Roxbury. The officers had stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and were speaking to the operator, later identified as Greg Altenor, 27, of Dorchester, when they observed two bags of marijuana on the floor near his feet. The officers removed the operator and performed a pat frisk of the vehicle which led to the recovery of a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson 40VE handgun, several additional bags of marijuana packaged for sale, a digital scale and other property commonly associated with the illegal selling of drugs. Officers later recovered $2252 in U.S. Currency from the suspect which was also turned in as evidence. The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs and Armed Career Criminal (Level 2).
