Mayor Martin Walsh and Police Commissioner William Evans are happy to announce the hiring of Michael Gaskins in the newly created position of Diversity Recruitment Officer and Examination Administrator. Under the supervision of the Director of BPD Human Resources, Mr. Gaskins will manage the recruitment process for the positions of police officer and police cadet and develop a recruitment strategy for promoting the Boston Police Department in each neighborhood of the city to ensure the highest possible level of diversity in our applicant pools. Additionally, he will be responsible for the administrative and logistical tasks related to promotional exams and working closely with civil service testing companies to support the development of promotional tests.
Said Commissioner Evans, "We at the BPD feel Mr. Gaskins is highly qualified for the position and will be an asset to the both the department and the community. We are excited to have him on board."
