#ICYMI: BPD's Honorary Top Cop, Six-Year-Old Devin Suau, Leads South Boston's Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Yesterday, Sunday, March 19, 2017, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Police Commissioner William Evans, and the Boston Police Department named 6-year-old Devin Suau of Framingham as Boston's honorary Top Cop before little Devin led the Saint Patrick's Day Parade waving from the top of a BPD SWAT truck. Devin was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, a rare type of cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). In an effort to raise awareness for Devin and the disease, his parents created the hashtag #WhyNotDevin that has since gone viral.

The public has become enamored with the strength, bravery, and character of this young man--and he's awfully funny, too! On parade day, Devin hammed it up for the local news media while wearing a police hat belonging to his uncle, Boston Police Officer Justin Cremmins. Devin also had some words of advice for all those officers out there--said Devin, "Stay safe. And be careful to not get eaten by a bear!" Words to live by, officers!
