Keeping Boston Safe: 15-Year-Old Suspect in Custody After Search Warrant Leads to the Recovery of a Loaded Firearm in Mattapan

At about 2:30 PM on Tuesday March 28, 2017, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force executed a search warrant as part of an active gang related investigation in the area of Norfolk Street in Mattapan.  As a result, the officers were able to safely recover a loaded 9mm Luger PT11GT handgun from inside a residence.  Simultaneously, officers located and arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male suspect from Mattapan who was the target of the investigation.  The suspect will appear in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

“I find it deeply troubling that we have a 15-year-old kid with access to a loaded gun,” said Commissioner Evans.  “This should be upsetting to everyone.  My officers work every single day to make a difference in our community but we need help from everyone to make sure we don’t have guns in the hands of children.  It’s unacceptable.”
