Statement from Commissioner William Evans Relative to the Verdict in the Aaron Hernandez Double Murder Trial

STATEMENT FROM COMMISSIONER WILLIAM EVANS RELATIVE TO TODAY'S VERDICT: "The verdict reached today in the Aaron Hernandez double murder trial was very disappointing. The entire Boston Police Department expresses our sincerest condolences to the families of the two victims, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, whose lives were lost in a senseless act of violence. We are committed to seeing that justice prevails in every case that we present to the Court for prosecution. I commend the work of my investigators and the prosecutors assigned to the District Attorney’s office who put forth an enormously diligent and determined effort in this case. I have the utmost respect for the Jury and thank them for their service but simply disagree with the verdict reached. The evidence in this case all points to Aaron Hernandez as the sole person responsible for the tragic and untimely deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado."
