One Less Gun: Officers Recover Loaded Firearm from Juvenile Suspect After Responding to Chaotic Scene in Dorchester

At about 2:24 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite firearm arrest after responding to a radio call for a person with a gun in the area of 21 Fessenden Street in Dorchester. During the incident, a suspect was observed brandishing a firearm after a fight had broken out between a group of individuals.  As the officers arrived on scene, they observed the group dispersing and began to pat frisk the individuals for officer safety. Officers quickly recovered a loaded .25 caliber Sterling handgun from the right pants pocket of a 17-year-old juvenile male suspect from Dorchester, who was then placed in custody without incident. After conducting numerous interviews, it was confirmed that the suspect had pointed the gun at a victim during the disturbance. Additionally, the suspect was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. The suspect will appear in Dorchester Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to Wit:  Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon.
