One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Multiple Suspects, Recover Firearm after Suspects Use Fake Currency at Downtown Restaurant

At about 3:15 AM on Sunday, May 14, 2017, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) recovered a firearm during a motor vehicle stop in the area of Kingston and Edinboro Streets. The motor vehicle stop was initiated when a group exited the Moon Villa restaurant after using fake currency to pay for their food. The group entered a motor vehicle, and it was then that the officers were able to make the stop. While interacting with the occupants, the officers heard the sound of a metal object drop in the center console. Believing it was a weapon, the officers conducted a frisk of the passenger compartment and the occupants. During the frisk, officers recovered a black and brown 9mm Sig Sauer firearm. All occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged with firearm-related offenses.
