Great Work Recognized: Eight Boston Patrolmen Awarded Nation's Top Police Honor

This week, thousands of police officers converged on the nation’s capital for Police Week. Among them were several Boston police officers who traveled to Washington D.C. to receive the nation’s highest police award, the TOP COPS Award.

Since 1994, NAPO has presented the TOP COPS Award as a means to educate the American public about America’s heroes and to pay tribute to law enforcement officers in federal, state, county, and local agencies across the country for actions during the preceding year that rise above and beyond the call of duty. The Boston Police Department is proud to have eight recipients of the award this year. They are:

Patrolman Eric Thomas Schmidt
Patrolman Richard Cintolo
Patrolman Matthew J. Morris
Patrolman Clifton Singletary
Patrolman Lenin Ortiz
Patrolman Joseph H. McSorley
Patrolman Joseph Greco
Sergeant Norberto Perez

To these officers, and all of this year’s recipients, we say congratulations on this top honor!
