At about 4:50 AM on Friday, May 19, 2017, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering to a motor vehicle in the area of Abbotsford and Harold Streets.
Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle parked near the above address with the passenger side door ajar. As officers approached the car, they observed a male who appeared to be sleeping in the driver’s seat. Next to the male, on top of the center console, officers observed a black firearm resting in such a position that would suggest the male had placed it down with his right hand. One officer reached inside the vehicle to secure the firearm when the male simultaneously woke up. The officer shouted, “Don’t move!” as the male startled and reached for the firearm. The officer was able to move quickly to secure the loaded Sig Sauer P250 firearm before the suspect could get a firm grip on it.
The male was then removed from the vehicle and apprehended. When he could not produce a License to Carry, officers arrested the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Alex Cherizard of Charlestown. Cherizard was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Receiving Stolen Property over $250, and Armed Career Criminal.
